Linebound Inspirations

Preparation for Summer Camp 2020

Action

"What are you going to do about it?"
"Eh, probably something stupid."
"Good, but you've already done that."
"Then something crazy!"
-Astrid and Hiccup, How to Train Your Dragon
The rush of the wind, the thunder of the cannons, the heat of the flame. Linebound is based on the idea of sailing ships that travel the skies and inspired by swashbuckling action. However, action comes in other places as well such as the tension of a dangerous climb or negotiation, the planning of extraordinary tactics, and the flight from a dangerous sandstorm.
Movie Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl
Music He's a Pirate by Klaus Badelt

Adventure

"Travelling - it leaves you speechless, then turns you into a storyteller."
-Ibn Battuta
Whether walking a footpath, riding a horse down a road, or navigating a skyship Linebound is about exploration. The exploration of the world is the grandest and easiest to imagine. An exploration of ideas and of relationships are also different kinds of adventures.
Movie Atlantis: The Lost City
Music Sogno Di Volare by Christopher Tin

Change

"Be the change you want to see in the world."
-Mahatma Ghandi
Change and agency are key to Linebound. Players must be able to create change in the world, to improve lives or worsen them, to create art or destroy it. These are elements that should be within or refuted by every culture.
Movie How to Train Your Dragon
Music Across the Violet Sky by Evan Call

Magic

"Music is the strongest form of magic."
-Marilyn Manson
In the world of Linebound all magic is art but not all art is magic. Songs and dances of the fae produce wondrous effects while rarely an artist creates a work with such skill and passion that it becomes magic. Attempt to recapture the awe and magic that is so keenly felt in the earlier years. In a world of fantasy what is fantastic to the inhabitants?
TV Series The Ancient Magus Bride
Music A ghaoil, leig dhachaigh gum mhàthair mi by Julie Fowlis
