Kola Species in Linebound | World Anvil

Kola

Large Skyfish

"For to cast my line
With a little bit'a luck
Tug and pull it
And catch a kola
  Bring it home to her
See the smile on her face
And cook it up
Share it with friends
  To get up early
And leave my family
To come home late
And miss the drama
We are the fishermen!"   -A traditional fishermen's song from Darapur

Basic Information

Anatomy

Kola are tall and thin for fish. They have two sets of fins on each side, one large and one small.

Genetics and Reproduction

To reproduce a female lays eggs on some plants that grow on the underside of the island and a male fertilizes them.

Growth Rate & Stages

Kola begin life at only a fraction of their normal size. At about twenty days tiny kola begin to fly around. At the end of a season they have begun to develop their markings. They grow over the next seven or eight years before reaching their maximum size and becoming capable of spawning.

Ecology and Habitats

Kola can live in cold and temperate environments.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Kola eat certain types of plants that grow on the undersides of islands. These plants have high moisture contents.

Biological Cycle

The coloration of the fish change with the passing seasons and they become less active in the winter when it is harder to find food.

Additional Information

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

One eye is located on either side of the head giving kola a large range of vision. They are also sensitive to sudden and loud sounds.
