Discovery
The corberry was discovered by the man whose name it holds,
Jialus Erooncor, after he felled an
aradel tree. He noticed what he first assumed to be an orange stone but it turned out to be a fruit. Taking a bite, he learned that it tasted terrible. However, the next day his swollen joints - from cutting down so many trees - felt a little better. Later he would learn this was not because of the corberry but he was already on a path and could not be stopped.
This fruit grows just under the surface of the soil among the roots of the
aradel tree. It isn't super common because it also requires an additional condition that it isn't too close to any river or pond - which are common in the area where the
tree grows.
Claims of Health Benefits
Scholars are still conducting studies on whether the corberry provides any health benefits but that doesn't stop
Jialus Erooncor from selling them at an absurdly high price to the very wealthy with claims of weight-loss, reduction in joint pain, and a longer life expectancy. The list of claims goes on much longer but it isn't always consistent with what he says at other times.
