Buckler
Shield of a Deft Fighter
Amwar held his buckler out ahead of himself, his arm stretched to the limit, mimicking his opponent. His opponent stepped forward Amwar moved his sword-hand up to meet his outstretched buckler, tip to the ceiling, cutting off his opponents line of attack and threatening the less experienced swordsman's head.
Cultural Significance
Bucklers are not thought of often by those who don't use them but appear often in literature and stage productions in which the characters use rapiers.Manufacturing process
The metal is worked into a round shape. The wood is formed into the shape of the buckler with a hole in the center then the metal is attached to the wood and a handle is added. Sometimes a metal ring is added to the edges of the wood.
