Virgil
Virgil Pugh (a.k.a. The Spawn)
"He's a talented story-teller with a sense of humour and an affinity for the theatrics. That little shit."
As the only known half-human, half-basilisk (halfilisk, as he prefers it) known to history, Virgil is quite the fun guy. He is the infamous spawn of Lȳt Middel, and it is told that he is the one who spread the tale himself, wishing to honour his mother Jane Pugh and his late father the basilisk Eddie. He is engaged to Adrian Laverack and owns the Basilisk's Eye.

Adrian had stopped in Lȳt Middel as a part of his campaign and was staying in The Basilisk's Eye. Virgil took a particular interest in him, hiring him to do odd jobs around town and telling him tall tales. The two soon began to harbour feelings for each other.
Less than two weeks before he was due to leave, Adrian turned up at Virgil's door.
"You're the spawn, aren't you?" he told him.
Virgil crossed his arms at the blunt remark. "I prefer halfilisk." He tilted his head. "You're not afraid?"
He was met by a hum. "You have treated me with nothing but kindness, and your tone while telling your story implied that it was exaggerated anyways. Besides, I wouldn't want to lose a friend."
The halfilisk frowned. "Oh... friend?"
At this, Adrian chuckled softly and pulled him into a kiss.
While Adrian was on the road, he and Virgil wrote to each other weekly, and when he was not on the road, they were together. Three years after an almost sickeningly-sweet courtship, Adrian proposed, and of course, Virgil said yes. They're due to marry in the spring.
