Churiete
(Turkey)
(Fair, Plutocratic, Idealising Duty)
Churiete is a land where wealth is recognised as a true status of a given persons power. The more wealth you acquire, the greater your influence.
This plutocratic land is ruled over by a series of small councils that each run one of the seventeen regions of Churiete. To become a member of such a council, each member must fulfil three requirements:
1 - You must have attained a vast amount of wealth.
2 - You must show that you can utilise that wealth effectively, and safely. How can you be trusted with the nations wealth, if you cannot be trusted with your own?
3 - You must create soemthing that will last the ages.
Because of this, prospective members are often either approached or referred into the various councils by existing members, and to fulfill the third clause, people do so in the only way that makes sense - by creating a structure.
But to simply make a building is not enough, for it needs to last the test of time, and it needs to be a work of art in its own right.
If a person can fulfil these requirements, they will find themselves welcomed into the councils with open arms. From each of these smaller councils, a single member is elected into the Greater Council, to better rule and administer the affairs of Churiete proper.
That said, a person who inherits their wealth does not gain automatic membership into the councils, for they must still fulfill the original criteria, especially the second clause. This was implimented to ensure that fools that fritter away the family gold do not do so to the coffers of the country. And even if a fool is able to fluke their way into the council, accidents do happen.
It is the aspiration of the Churietan people to one day amass enough wealth to be able to create their own wonder, and join the council. If not them, then perhaps their children might be lucky, or their childrens children. This thinking has kept most people content with their lot, not knowing they may never make it - not unless luck favours them.
Architecture
Churiete has a higher than normal amount of Megalithic sites dotted about the country, mostly obscured by the vast amount of architecture created by the elite of Churiete.
The architecture within Churiete can best be broken down into three ages - Kazlarium, Oyulmun, and Safdoğa.
Kazlarium architecture is best exemplified by the liberal use of gold, mosaics made of painted stone or glass tesserae, arches, vaults and domes. The grandest buildings prioritise gold painted backgrounds, while lesser buildings used frescos upon lime plaster.
Oyulmun architecture differs in that it the gold and mosaics were abandoned, in favour of symmetrical architecture, brickwork, and tiling. Most visually, the carved stucco's are a visual identifier of architecture created during this age. Much of the architecture took a more naturalistic slope, but also sported grander and larger structures in turn.
Safdoğa architecture is the current style utilised in Churiete. While focused upon its use of central domes and surrounding semi-domes, it combines elements of Kazlarium and Oyulmun Architecture, bringing back the use of gold in the decorations, and utilising the carved stucco's to reflect a more natural world, which has become more absent by this point in time. Some greater architectural locations have incorporated certain areas to make stylised gardens, creating artificial oases.
Militant Forces
While Churiete can happily boast their own naval and land forces, the greatest of their military might comes in the form of the unique cavalry. Carried on powerful wings, their mighty steeds unleash terrible cries into the sky as they plunge downward, bringing death and horror. They are known as the Death Wing, or in their native tongue - the Ölüm Kanadı.
Religion
While the vast majority of Churiete worships the pantheons of the Mordinsamman or Yondalla's Children, there is a small caste of religious folk that directly support the Churietan Council, known as the Kutsal Evyaymak.
The priests of the Kutsal Evyaymak, recognisable by their ritualistically white powdered noses, who perform their ancient rites, said to include the consumption of rare stimulants that place them within a euphoric state, all in the aid of putting them in communion with the great spirit, Evyaymak, an aspect of the richest parts of the Mordinsamman.
It is by their hand that the wealth of Churiete, as directed by this great spirit, is maintained.
It is by their hand that Churiete continues to prosper within the great marketplace of the world.
