Vehicle Classifications
Within the Mizar System, interplanetary travel is a way of life. The vehicles used to get from one side of a planet to the other side of a star are vastly different, but familiar terminology is useful in knowing what ships can go where.
Military, Commercial, and Private Vehicles
The three broadest classifications of vehicles. Private and Commercial vessels tend to follow similar typing conventions across the system, but Military vessels will usually have a naming convention logical to the species designed to pilot them.
Iso-Speeder
Small and agile, these single person speeders are regularly used by couriers and scouts on planet surfaces. Some aero- and hydro-sport versions are capable of short flights between five and ten meters above a surface.
Speeder
The most heavily customizable vessels of the Light Classes. Most can hold between two and four riders. Shapes and styles vary widely, especially on planets with active free-markets.
Haul Speeder
Also called Haulers. These larger speeders are generally used for carrying freight and cargo across planets, though a few specialty designs are used for mass transit in cities.
Classes
Vessel classes are rated by size. These range from Speeders, the smallests, usually personal use or single occupancy vehicles, to the massive city size ships known as Skyliners. From smallest to largest the various clasees are as follows.Light Vessels
Vehicles incapable of upper atmosphere travel or reaching escape velocities. Sub-classes include geo-, hydro-, aqua-, and aero-classes. The last of these is quickly replacing the need and desire for older Light-geo vessels.--Atmo Speeder::Commonly reffered to as Atmo's, these heavier speeders are designed for longer distances, higher speeds, and more general comfort.
