Sayo

One of the smaller nations within The Syndicate, Sayo is situated in the snowy southern mountains of Secand that operates as a feudal society with a defined class system. Leading the nation are the Five Rings, are collection of families who have earned their way to the top of Sayoan society through a multitude of ways, including military prowess, economic domination, and more.   Sayoan Classes   The Rings – families that form the council the Council of Rōjū.   Samurai – Formidable warriors tasked with the protection of the city of Sayo as well as the rural areas leading to the borders   Merchants – Families and collectives that operate the trading with other nations   Sorcerers – Mystics, mages, and clerics who study and manipulate the powers emerging from the weave   Commoners – The average citizen   While the established classes are firmly established wit in the culture of Sayo, there is some flexibility within the order itself. The middle three classes have the ability to move up and down, primarily through overt attacks, but in the past, subterfuge and deception have succeeded in increasing the ranking of a particular class. The current order has been maintained for the previous 600 years, but there are tensions within the city that could set off a conflict between the classes.   Economic drivers: large scale beef ranching, rice farming, light manufacturing and textiles, tourism   Key features: The Lighthouse – HQ for the sorcerer class located in the exact center of Sayo city; Shima Saski-kan – popular inn with beautiful gardens
