Granted Divine Powers

Any major deity can create a special connection to a number of humanoids. People with those connections are known as clerics. A cleric can exploit their connection to their deity to cast spells. More literally, they are causing their deity to cast spells on the cleric's behalf, limited by the enigmatic divine law.
