Apollo

God of the light that illuminates and unveils everything, Apollo dominates many power spheres. His main responsibility is to ensure that teh sun always shines on the earth and allows humanity to prosper. In Achaia, is name is often associated with the epithet "Phoebos," luminous. His power over light is also connected to the ability of "unveiling" what is hidden, the occult. Hence, he's the god of Divination and talks to mankind through the mouths of many oracles and seers. Like his twin sister, Diana, he's incredibly skilled with the bow, which he uses to punish those who violate the law of the gods; with his arrows he can spread pestilence. Apollo loves order and harmony, and detests those who unleash chaos, in every way. Apollo isn't, however, a god that appreciates violence. He prefers to cure, rather than to make sick. His son, Aesculapius, is the god of medicine. Apollo favors everything that is balanced, elegant, and harmonious. He's the lord of the Muses, nine semi-divine maindens who follow him everywhere. His oracles often communicate through verses or music. Due to these qualities, he's always portrayed as a stunningly beautiful young man, with teh long hair of artists, intent on playing the cithara or driving the Sun Chariot.
