Nocturne
The Nocturne is a series of interlinked aquatic species. Forming originally around the great reefs underneath the seas of east of Oceanus, the various species evolved out into a thriving community, to a growing culture, to a sub nautical empire. The people (and packs) of the Nocturne themselves have immigrated around the Levis 'continent', joining the global community where and when they can.
Whisperlings
The individual unit is coffee mug sized, with a thin, hairless body and white skin, with a mouth full of too many teeth and a gut built to digest anything. Their mucus can be combined with eaten rocks to provide a building material of the strength of concrete. But then they come in hive mind like packs of up to 30 individuals, and can swim (with their webbed hands and oversized feet) at breakneck speeds.
Nightbloom
Each nightbloom is metaphysically connected to a water born plant or non-sapient organism, with mouthless faces, and double eyelided eyes, and thick, corded hair. They have disproportionately long arms and a lover bdy that completes into that of an octopus. Their skin ashy grey and their gills are situated right below their armpits. They are the most populous of the Nocturne.
Tidewalkers
Rarely seen outside the empire, to the point that many uneducated foliad believe that they are simply a working animal for the Empire, Tidewalkers are big, blind and long of speech. Nothing vexes a tidewalker more than someone trying to imprecisely explain a concept in few words when a paragraph or two will do. With soft, paper thin skins, and delicate webbing for swimming, twisted spines and a thick blubbery body and guiding tail, the Tidewalker was made for the oceans, at maximum the port towns and villiages in eastern Oceanus
Basic Information
Anatomy
Nocturne are water breathing, with both a set of lungs and a set of gills. Tide-walkers have a pair of shoulder mounted blowholes, able to take deep breaths into massive lungs when they choose to meet the surface.
The Tidewalkers are my favourite.
