As the dry season progresses and the risk of bushfire increases, the nerves of the peoples of Northern and Eastern Levis down from Solaris, all the way to the Starberry fields - especially those in the bushland outside of the grown walls of Solaris to the northeast; those nerves begin to fray. As tensions spike with hot, dry air and the scrub and the gardens growing wilted and crackly - the people of the region look to their sense of community and the deeds they do to assist and encourage each other. In this way the Embertoken comes into play.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

Constructed from most often flowers from plants that bloom outside of wildflower season, bright leaves from bold plants can also be used. Heat is applied to the edges of the leaf or petal, until a nice char is seen on the newly formed token. Further embellishments can be added - wax dollops, amber or string wrappings, things that make the token unique but keep its transient nature.
Embertokens are passed between those who do kind and thoughtful acts for another, independent of the barter system that infuses Levis, these tokens are about bringing the magic of the person to another, and if done right, often bring a moment of glimmer to the greater world around them.

History

First started after one of the fires doubled back on a town lost to time, its inhabitants forced to rebuild, though the community was lost and shattered. One of the young gave a burnt petal to another child who helped them, and their tutor - seeing the joy it brung, began handing out these burnt petals to her tutorlings, as the small ones helped rebuild the area they came to learn in.
The story of this act spread, with it never really gaining official praise, just an item shared when moods could be lifted, when the air is hot and fire approaches or has just passed. It gained a massive rush of acceptance after the drought of 1430QY, where the ground was so dry that rationing has to be put into place in several of the northern towns of Solaris, and water stores became public property for that season.

Significance

Many treasure the Embertokens they gain. While only likely to survive the one season, they are little reminders of the joy they have brought to others. Many collect their tokens in preserved gourds touched by flame, though often as not, the tokens are admired and then used as mulch for the struggling gardens of the recipients.
