Argent
Argent, once known as Argentium and once the most wealthy and powerful city in the world, is the capital of the East Ulman Empire and was the capital and origin of the Ulman Empire. Argentium was a sprawling city of colossal means, with nearly 400,000 citizens at its height, not counting slaves (which the old Ulman Empire did not, leaving contradictory records behind) - scholars estimate anything between 500,000 and 800,000 people all told when they are accounted for.
Today, the city is somewhat diminished, not being able to ship in food and resources from its diminished empire to support such an extensive populace. Current records indicate that there are around 200,000 people in the city today, which is still one of the largest in the world.
However, the city has lost little of its lustre. Taking a pilgrimage to Argent has become a wildly popular activity within the nobility of every nation that shares the Religio Populi, the most widespread of the continent's religions.
