They claim to be paving a path for a second era of magical enlightenment, structured and controlled under their careful hands.

All troops and guards answer to their authority, They possess countless coinpieces within their governmental treasury, and some say they have a vast armory of the most potently enchanted magical weapons and armors, perhaps the largest in all of Letorus. Additionally, many academies, institutions, and churches answer to them, and will carry out their demands with great honor.
History
After the Fall of Castellus, and the Spellscourge that followed, the people of Argo were weak and scattered. However, several mages of the city-state of Argolis, who personally studied in the academies of Castellus, pooled together what remaining research and knowledge they had recovered, and banded together as the the archmages of this new world. Originally, their goal was to advise the king in all supernatural affairs, and attempt to build a new foundation for magical study. They were successful in this endeavor, and the magic-weary citizens began to listen to their orders and advising over the king's, hoping these new magical experts could prevent another tragedy. Soon, their power and influence had almost completely usurped the king's, and the proceeding dethroning was a surprise to almost nobody.
With a seat of power secured, the Magelords established new laws and customs in the world of wizardry, and spent the next few centuries establishing and expanding their magocratic republic. Over seven centuries, countless Magelords have ascended to seats in the Timeless Halls, with a vast array of scholarly talents and ambitions.
