Mocci Anobanni is an alchen adventuring wanderer and sellsword from the Republic of Mekleid renowned for his commitment to the welfare of the animals of the Stone Shore. Much of what he's earned over the years has been invested into the protection of the region's wildlife, and the establishment and maintenance of a large reserve to the south of Talva, close to the border with Vell-Keira. He is often accompanied on his journeys by his pet bird, a dutiful Belikan Birbetsiansis that enjoys perching on Mocci's shoulder and antlers.

Path to Adventure

Born to a family of alcheni within a primarily human society, Mocci grew up as a member of the ancient remnants of the Sehenians, a folk who had settled the land when the Imperium of Valhértis dominated the Stone Shore. His family had assimilated into the local Renish culture generations ago, but Mocci had stayed true to the old gods of his people in the Pantheon of the Dawn, choosing to follow Heláia instead of other deities.

Honorary Member

After several successful contracts to the Cocoa and Cookie Society of Mekleid, Mocci was offered a position as an honorary member of the organisation, gaining the right to attend the society’s meetings and events. The membership has also given him access to significant discounts on goods in various cacao houses throughout the country that are associated with the society.

Freelancer

Mocci inherited a set of armour and a couple of weapons from his elderly eccentric uncle when he was in his early 20s, leading to the beginning of his career as a sword-for-hire. He was always careful with the contracts he chose, avoiding everything morally dubious that could harm innocents. Much of his work revolved around escorting wealthy patrons from town to town, keeping them safe from highwaymen and raiders from the Central Plain.

Establishment of the Reserve

After years of accompanying important dignitaries around, rescuing various hostages, and saving kittens from trees, Mocci invested his funds and the rest of the wealth of his inheritance into the establishment of a wildlife reserve in the southwestern highlands of Mekleid. The building of the reserve’s facilities and fencing proved to be more costly that initially estimated and so Mocci had to continue his freelance work during the duration of the construction.
Once everything was finally ready a few years later, Mocci’s reserve had all that he needed to care for animals, providing them with medical care and other help. Over time more and more was added, everything from watchtowers throughout the reserve to monitor and safeguard the wildlife to new facilities to conduct research. Although Mocci Anobanni’s adventuring income continues to cover most of the establishment’s expenses, the new animal observation platforms and educational facilities have begun to generate additional funds for the reserve as well. The greatest challenge that has threatened the reserve, so far, was a large group of poachers that were thankfully spotted before they could cause much harm. Driven to the reserve by hunger and desperation, the poachers were unwilling to leave at first, but Mocci was able to convince them to accept a few sacks of grain instead, but not before they fixed his fence and assisted with a few other miscellaneous tasks.
