Red Eye/Sniper's Friend

The namesake of the Gloamroot has some interesting properties. When the root is dried, then grated to a powder, and soaked in a high concentration alcohol, compounds from the root combine with the alcohol to form a potent recreational hallucinogen called Red Eye. When consumed, the drinker experiences auditory and visual hallucinations, as well as a mild euphoria, for several hours. In many cases, the actual amount of Red Eye is cut with water or other alcohols for a weaker effect. The drink is so named for the reddening of the whites of the eye of those who consume the drink. The discoloration passes within a day.
If the pulp of the root is left within the Red Eye, and the mix brought to a light simmer for a few minutes, the properties of the drink change drastically. The new compound, Sniper's Friend, slows the heart rate slightly, reducing trembling of the hands, and enhances eyesight. This effect is shortlived, lasting only a few minutes, but that does not detract from the value of a steady, accurate shot.
