Elder One

The elder one is the leader of the Champions of Light and according to their legends a living incarnation of pure good. All individuals that have held the position have always been the most powerful person in the mortal plane at their time, but for the majority of its existance, the position has been unfilled. The current elder one is a half-elf, half-human woman in her twenties. Despite her young age she is extremely powerful and her inexperience is mitigated by counsel from her grandfather, Arthur Ilvenar, and other powerful champions.

Appointment

Before each demonic invasion the champions receive some sort of sign that a new elder one has been born. Most champions of light then strike out on their own to find the new chosen one so that they can be protected and trained as soon as possible. Once they are found they are brought to the isle of light to be trained until they are finally ready to ascend to their position. One of the final steps before an Elder One is appointed is taming and restabilizing the everlight. There are also other rites and rituals which must be observed but they are not regarded to be nearly as important.

Duties

The elder one leads the champions of light. This means setting goals and choosing champions and guardians to complete whatever missions or tasks that need to be fulfilled.

History

In the first demonic wars the elf Arthalan fought vigorously against the demons and each day the combined forces of all races lost more ground and they were steadily losing until Arthalan with all his fury and passion shouted to the skies to the gods about the injustice that the races faced and how the gods had mercylessly forsaken them and left them to their fates. The gods were shamed by this and they gave the races of good a chance to survive. They all gave a fraction of their powers to Arthalan and made him into the first elder one. He slaughtered the demon chosen generals and things were going well, but it was not enough. Realising this Arthalan created a massive purge spell using his own lifeforce to purge all demons and their influence on the world. Thus the first demonic wars ended and the world was at peace. Many thought that the divine power given to Arthalan had disappeared with him but this was not the case. It traveled to a new chosen one and so it has been since the death of Arthalan that a new chosen one was chosen by the divine power after the death of the previous elder one.
