Withered Black Vine

The withered black vine is a plant species developed by the Rezuslic to control their territory and deter trespassers in The Wasteland.

Appearance

The withered black vine looks as if it has been burned. Black tendrils snake along the forest floor, sprouting dark grey leaves as they go. Along each of the tendrils are small thorns. The only color on the plant is the occasional red flower.

Cultivation

Derived from the initial regrowth of the andosia vine after The Great Invasion, the development of the withered black vine took many years. The Rezuslic wanted something the would spread quickly to choke out the regrowth of new vegetation as the land recovered from being thoroughly burned. It had to also be able to survive in the poisoned environment they sought to create around their lands.

Spread

The withered black vine accomplished its goal better than the Rezuslic could have expected. Within a few years it covered everything within a mile of their territory, giving the appearance that there was no growth of any kind. They climbed the still-standing corpses of trees and snaked their way through streams and ponds. The vines now reach as far south as the Ganuiles Mountains, unable to survive the cold of the mountains to continue spreading.

Uses

In addition to the control of vegetation, the Rezuslic also use the red flower of the withered black vine in poisons. Those who are immune to the withered black vine's poison wear the flowers as accessories. The vines are also purposely used as camouflage for the buildings at the far reaches of the Rezuslic's territory.
