Queendom of Leland

The Queendom of Leland was the organization that ruled the Leland Peninsula from the beginning of year 1 SU until the assassination of Elena Ahyen in 711. It marked the first time the peninsula would be united under one rule and allowed the Linguasta to reenter society after historically being ostracized by all other groups.

History

In the wake of The Great Invasion, the true power of a unified Leland was something that leaders did not wish to disappear in the event that The Horde returned. Due to the Linguasta's timely entry into the war leading to victory, many rallied around the once-ostrasized people as their saviors, and those with political savvy saw an opportunity. The establishment of the queendom took several years following the war, mostly due to the hostility of some groups on the peninsula to being ruled by someone else. They would eventually be convinced by the military might of those that had already agreed to submit to imperant rule. The Queendom of Leland officially began in year 1 SU with the coronation of Carina Ahyen marking the first day of Onary.    The early years of the queendom, while a struggle to consolidate power, saw an improvement in many lives as buildings and infrastructure were rebuilt in more efficient and useful ways. Collaboration between groups once separated by borders and ancient history led to technological advances. This era of flourishing led many to associate imperants with good fortune, elevating even the lowest of them to a noble rank, and for a time this was a beneficial relationship. Those of Linguasta descent still held or passed down memories of what it had been like before the war and therefore remained grateful for the position they held now   By the middle of the first millennia, the ruling Linguasta had all but forgotten the history of their people and had begun abusing their power, both political and enmantic. This led to an assassination attempt on the royal family that led to a Regifted Syndrome epidemic in 554. Fearing the loss of control, the ruling class began to enact strict laws regarding non-imperants, one of the most egregious of these being to ban the very possession of Power of Aura in 574. Many were executed and rioting and military control became a regular occurence.   In 706, the destruction of a ship holding political prisoners that was docked at Sudlan Bay Trading Post would mark the beginning of the Silver Eagle Rebellion, a movement led by a mysterious figure known only as Silunsei. The rebellion would culminate in the successful assassination of Elena Ahyen in 711, signaling an end to the Queendom of Leland. Rebellion leaders would be responsible for establishing the successor organization to the queendom, the Leland Confederacy.

Military

In the early centuries of the queendom, the military forces were primarily stationed along the northern border of Leland between the Ganuiles Mountains and The Wasteland out of fear that The Horde might return. As fears of a second Great Invasion began to subside, the substantial military was dispersed elsewhere and eventually was used as a tool by the Crown to maintain order, especially in the final years of the queendom.
