Power of Aura is the ability to see and possibly manipulate the energy surrounding living things, usually humans. This energy is a result of a persons conscious and subconscious interaction with the world as well as a reflection of their current mental and physical state.

Aura Abilites

Seeing Aura

Aura is not seen by normal eye sight. Corrective lenses may blur or otherwise obscure the ability to see an aura despite making the physical world clearer. A blind person may be able to see aura even if they cannot see the physical world.
Visaurants are not able to see their own auras. Similar to how the human brain filters out the nose despite being in the field of vision, a visaurant's aura is also filtered out.

Aura Manipulation

Aura manipulation is an ability possessed by approximately one third of those with Power of Aura. Because a person's aura is a manifestation of their interaction with the physical world, manipulating an aura causes the body to react in a way that puts it in sync with the aura. Because this isn't the natural order of things, excessive manipulation can trigger a fight or flight response in the person being manipulated, leading to a potentially violent situation.
Transaurants are often lumped in with visaurants when speaking generally about Aura related abilities, as they are also able to see auras in addition to manipulating them.

Power Manifesation

Aura abilities are known to manifest much later than other abilities, often in the preteen or early teen years. For this reason, visaurants are sometimes misregistered as nulls at the mandatory registration age of twelve.

Non-Human Auras

Almost all visaurants can only see human auras, but if an individual happens to be twice gifted with the Power of Flora, there is a chance they may see plant auras as well. Even more rare is the ability to see the auras of non-human creatures, an ability only found in perhaps one in a generation.

Immunity to Persuasion

Visaurants are not susceptible to being Persuaded. Visaurants have reported feeling a sensation in their auras when Persuasion is attempted, suggesting that something about their aura as a biproduct of their ability interferes with a Command's power.

Murder by Aura

In the most extreme of situations, it is possible for a transaurants to kill another person by completely extinguishing their aura. Because aura manipulation leads to the physical body changing to be in sync, if there is no aura, there can be no life. There are no physical indications left on the body to point to the cause of death, so it can only be determined by process of elimination.

Dangerous and Endangered

Power of Aura is often categorized with Power of Persuasion and Power of Melody as a potentially dangerous enmanity due to the ability to directly act on others. It is considered the most mysterious of the three as anyone can hear words or music, but only visaurants can see auras and transaurants could potentially manipulate an aura without being noticed.

Threat to the Queendom

During the late stages of the Queendom period, the royal line became especially paranoid about those that were unaffected by their Persuasion abilities. This made visaurants and true nulls targets of the crown. Many went underground or fled to the far reaches of the queendom where they hopefully wouldn't be seen as a threat. Queen Elena Ahyen went so far as to decree having Aura abilities as illegal and many visaurants (legitimate and suspected) would be executed in the last years of her rule. It only seems fitting that a visaurant posing as a null would be the one to assassinate her.

Modern Reputation

Aura is a relatively rare enmanity in modern times, but it has been that way for most of recorded history. Though they faced persecution during the late Queendom Era, visaurant numbers were not drastically reduced in the way imperant numbers were. Visaurants as a whole no longer face any kind of major threat as they are seen as mysterious but relatively harmless. In some ways they are considered the same as nulls as they have no external abilities. Transaurants, on the other hand, are still seen as somewhat of a threat. Sometimes called witches, their mysterious ability to affect other people can lead to them being ostracized.

Academic Study

Places of Study

Due to the rarity of Power of Aura, there is only one organization known for the study and training of its use. The Aura Enclave is located in northern Porcanda on the shores of Lake Emernora and is the home of the most extensive library of Aura research in existence.

Aura Manipulation as Therapy

It is believed that aura manipulation could be used to treat a wide variety of mental and physical ailments, however there is concern that the risk of a basal aurant reaction could harm both the patient and the transaurant doing the manipulation. There have not been extensive studies on this topic because finding subjects willing to undergo this kind of manipulation is difficult.
