Locrium

Locrium is a type of metal used primarily for Metal Channeling.

Properties

Material Characteristics

Locrium is a purple-grey metallic substance mostly found in mineral ores rather than in its natural state.

Geology & Geography

Large deposits of locrium can be found in the northern Thetbron Mountains and the Gildare Highlands.

History & Usage

History

Locrium was not a popular metal used by aggregants because of its complicated energy structure. Instead, it was traditionally used by non-aggregant metalworkers because it was easier to attain and cheaper because of the lower demand. This all changed in 1173 with the development of metal channeling, an aggregant technique that allows the channeling of energy through metallic substances which can be used to power a multitude of things. While many metals can be used with this technique, it was discovered that locrium's energy structure actually made it the ideal substance. This caused a rush on the deposits in Domthe and new mining operations popped up over night. Locrium continues to be one of Domthe's most profitable exports to this day as research into uses for this technology continues.

Refinement

While locrium could technically be used for metal channeling in its natural state, it requires smelting to be efficiently used for metal channeling or any other kind of metalwork.

Manufacturing & Products

Traditionally locrium was used for metal tools and decor, and still is to this day, but with the development of metal channeling it's harder to acquire for these purposes. Locrium can be used to make basic wires and filaments as well as other components of devices powered by metal channeling.

Reusability & Recycling

Locrium products, so long as no other metals or substances have been combined with them, can be melted down and reused for new products. Any channeling will need to be performed again as changing the physical structure will also change the energy structure.
