Hamasa Anlel College of Medicine

Hamasa Anlel College of Medicine (HACM) is a medical college within the Ilium University campus in Deamei City.

History

Hamasa Anlel

HACM is named after Hamasa Anlel, a compis apothecary who moved to Deamei in 778. Rather than live in the city proper, Anlel chose to live on the outskirts among those who couldn't afford to live in the city and were waiting for their names to be drawn for public-funded housing. In addition to providing treatment to the underserved, Anlel would become instrumental in the development of the social safety net of Deamei which had been ignored in the early years of the Confederacy.

Founding

HACM was formally established in 987, but had been accepting students in a trial program for a few years prior.

Modern Day

HACM is known as the foremost authority on imaging using Power of Light, having one of the most thorough training programs for illuminates looking to go into this field as well as in the research of the technique. Though most other programs are considered average in comparison to other medical colleges in Leland, a degree from HACM carries with it the prestige of being an Ilium graduate, as do all colleges under its umbrella.

Program Offerings - Non Enmanate

General Medicine

While a basic program, HACM's general medicine program is one that focuses on the workings of the human body and treatment practices that do not involve energy manipulation, though they may utilize tools or other materials that have been affected by an enmanate. Students of this program are able to specialize in fields such as physical therapy, dentistry, and surgery. Students who take part in other programs are required to have some general studies on this topic and many end up graduating from both programs for the sake of being well rounded.

Apothecary Sciences

The apothecary sciences program is designed to teach students how to create remedies to treat conditions, covering everything from identifying medicinal plants to how to administer treatments. The program is strictly about using things as they are, no energy manipulation involved, but the program is popular with herbateurs looking for an application for their plant knowledge and abilities.

Program Offerings - Enmanate

Medicinal Composition

HACM's medicinal Composition program was meant to be its most prestigious program, as a nod to its namesake, and for a century it was. The program is for composceanes interested in studying medicines beyond the abilities of a basic apothecary. Students of this program can specialize in different types of compositions such as natural cures, manufactured drugs, and poisons and antidotes.

Light Imaging

What HACM is most known for in modern times is its Light imaging program. In this program, illuminates learn how to effectively and safely convert visible light into ultraviolet light forms and direct them through a person's body toward a surface meant to record an image. Those who graduate from this program are highly sought after by hospitals all over Leland.

Research

Light Imaging

One of the greatest medical breakthroughs in the last century was the development of Light Imaging, developed in 1183 by Professor Darya Yunan, an illuminate and graduate of HACM's general medicine program. The first images taken were of Yunan's own foot, displaying the skeleton within. This technique allows medical personnel to see what is happening inside a person's body without the need for invasive procedures. Applications of this technique are ever evolving as experimentation with different wavelengths and concentrations are always underway.

Light Treatment

While using Light imaging to diagnose conditions is becoming a widely practiced technique, there is question about whether similar techniques could be used to treat conditions as well. There have been no definitive developments as of yet.
