Zavinia
The capital of Taliesin, and the northernmost major city there. Zavinia is the seat of both the queen and her Council, and sits at the end of the great road across the kingdom. It is defended by a wall of pure crystal from Kennocha, and is designed in a series of circles, leading to the grand crystal palace in the centre of the entire city.
Demographics
Entirely Taliesinian. Many families with noble connections, many servant families. Quite rich. A high percentage of warriors and messengers, as well as servants. The royal family and one noble family make their home in the city.
Government
Answers directly to the queen, or in her absence a representative from the Deeling family.
Defences
The crystal walls are impenetrable, and the gates are strong and well defended. Secret entrances exist, known only to the warriors. A moat lies around the palace, though mostly for decoration. It can still be used as a last resort defence.
Industry & Trade
Exports weapons, warriors, and the iriel. Imports technology, food, clothing and fabrics, jewelry, and metals.
Infrastructure
Squares at every major intersection. A sewer system below ground. A circular road system. The wall around the city.
Assets
One of two places where the iriel are bred. Warrior training grounds. Weapons are made here.
Guilds and Factions
The Council has many different factions, which shift depending on the issue of the day. The loyalties of the warriors also shift with those factions. The Deeling family is not particularly fond of the queen, creating further tension in the city.
History
The first city built in Taliesin, it was pulled from the earth by Maeveen in an incredible feat of magic. Originally called Aranao, it was renamed after Zavina Kelwyn single-handedly defended the city from invading Bricriuans.
Architecture
Wide variety of styles, but many bright colours. Homes are made of wood, while public buildings are of stone.
Geography
In the centre of a small valley. Flat plain all around, a gentle rise several kilometres away in all directions. Very flat. No rivers nearby, but an underground reservoir provides water.
