LoE 3.1: Introduction to a Juxtaposition
The team goes over the data that they collected while previously at the caldera and theorize they are accessing other realms. They complete their preparations and head out. At the entry of the cave they see a lot of crystals covering the walls, ceiling, floor; these gems are acting as sensory extenders for whatever is in the caldera, they are also explosive.
Nora reaches out and touches the alien’s mind, and also pulls the group into a telepathic gestalt. They realize that the Temple of Light needs to be protected, the other Temple needs to be destroyed along with its Guardian. JR uses his dagger to shift into the dream realm and the group joins him there through the auspices of Nora. Taylor, Kestra, and even Tatum join in. Tatum and Kestra guard the Temple of Light, while the rest fight the Guardian. A battle is enjoined and the Team wins.
Of course it was "only" a dream, but they find that the crystals are gone and now the forest extends no more than a hundred yards away from the temple where before it had nearly filled the 5 mile caldera. They managed to find out how to destroy the temple, at least temporarily, and after doing so also learned that there are numerous incursions like this happening on the planet.
Aftermath
(This conversation assumes that at least one person is completely candid with the Chief Elder).
Upon receiving the report after dinner, the Chief Elder informs the team that he will give his answer after dinner the following day. Upon this conversation, he informs them that it is time for the group to return to Dometown Delta. Given their level of (what they feel is) success and what remains to be investigated, there is genuine shock from others (definitely Angela and Sarah), and I imagine from the Team itself. He states that he understands to some degree how the Federacy operates and that these matters are far beyond your own level to act in any meaningful way unless one of you is a Federacy Troubleshooter.
