Food and Storage

At T0, food synthesization hit an epoch mark which allowed food substitutes to be developed virtually from component and trace materials. The result was, essentially, goo, soup, or a block until some wise college student thought about using a 3D printer with different source materials and to inject the nutrients into it. Not intended for extreme long term use (more than a couple years), they are still very effective (and often tasty).

At T1, Partial Food Packages or Parti-Packs, usually have some sort of protein and carbohydrate based block which save an incredible amount of space, but are able to reform into excellent fare while taking up very little space. This is standard fare for interstellar capable vessels.

T2, Food Capsules, containing entire days nutrients with self-replicating bulking agents for optimal satisfaction (the food essentially interacts within your stomach and “grows” within you) are available.

T3 is very fortunate with “Food Replicators” taking the Food Capsule technology a step further: the food can be “re-developed” into a stable form using the replicator, much like extremely advanced printing/rehydration. Such food is extremely stable, and it can be synthesized into forms suitable for actual cooking. In the Core, cooking as a culinary artform underwent a tremendous resurgence, and chefs are very valued. Ships designed to carry Passengers actually have galleys for a chef to cook.
