2AM - Prelude

The Alphans left Beautiful for Central on Shailou, two jumps away from Fringeworthy. After shipboard life for 2 months, it was decided to settle at Agro Hub 22. Perhaps Nora or Tatum have a relative there, if not, we’ll go with an acquaintance of Kaylee.
Settling in an agricultural villa 200 kloms north of Central, which is 2000 kloms south of Hub Capital, the Alphans are getting acclimatized to rural life in Agro Hub 22, aka Peetsville. Hub has a “Western” flavor (as many Fringe settlements do). Central is T1 (as with most “frontier” worlds, it does have a Federacy Affairs Office). Peetsville has one main complex dotted by a few other complexes within a few kloms. Peetsville proper has approximately 300 people, Agro Hub 22 is a short jaunt further to the west and is home to 20 or so folks, including the Alphans.
A square manor sits on top of a well-treed hill, seeing the well-curated 5 klom circular valley around it. It’s small as Agro Hubs go, but the food is mostly for regional consumption. However, it is known for its “22 Skidoo” wines and liqueurs due to several factors which include good handling of the vineyard to the north and west, where the hills begin to rise. The manor is styled as an inn, boasting rustic pleasures and a pleasant view. 22 Skidoo is proud of its Back To The Basics way of life, where a lot of work is done by hand, and Hospitality is a Must. A few horses are raised further south, and it seems that as much was done as possible to emulate a pleasant old west villa-esque setting - and they succeeded. It’s a Pleasant Valley kind of setting, indeed.
The manor’s prized possession is a kitchen whose heart was from Great Meemaw’s T3 galley, meaning it has a True Food Synthesizer (she was one of the original colonists, and cooked for them in return for the promise to be able to take the galley with her). She passed the knack and recipes on to Meemaw, but a couple of years ago, Meemaw passed away suddenly, and with her, the skill and a lot of recipes. It contributed to a loss of visitation (and therefore Buzz) for the Inn, but some still come over to partake of Pawpaw’s 22 Skidoo brand.
There’s always as much or as little work as one wants to do at the Inn, but in true Colony fashion, being non-productive is frowned upon - even if they’re too polite to come out and say it to your face.
The Alphans have been here for 5 of the 7 months they’ve been gone from Beautiful. They have gotten to know the inn-folk and some of the locals. Sheriff Brighthand, who truly enjoys 22 Skidoo, comes out at least every couple of tendays to see what’s brewing, samples quite a bit of it, staying 2 nights of course, but only ever buy some Blackboar Juice.
