Feathergale Spire Report in Legacy of the Realms | World Anvil

Feathergale Spire

General Summary

25 Mirtul, The Year of The Scarlet Witch (1491 DR)     Feathergale Spire, Sumber Hills, Dessarin Valley       It was still early in the morning when the adventurers arrived at Feathergale Spire.   The day before, they had discovered the remains of a camp in the wilderness on the way to the spire.   It looked as though a large creature had ravaged the camp. The group found what was left of two corpses. If there were more, they couldn't find any signs of it. The group then searched through any intact gear and equipment, which didn't appear to have been taken. Whatever attacked the camp wasn't after coins or items.   It was after meat.   Amongst the items found were a well-crafted longsword and dagger. Using Detect Magic, Seeker determined the two blades were indeed enchanted. However, Peridot could only cast Identify once, so he chose the longsword. It turned out to be a minor magical blade with no other properties. Despite this, it still was a magical sword and could be of use or fetch a good price.   They also found a letter inside a backpack.   The letter read:

The group considered the contents of the letter. Perhaps if they could find Savra and return her to her parents, the group could claim a reward, they thought.   After, the group moved on toward Feathergale Spire. It was getting late, so the group found a safe place to make a camp for the night.       Feathergale Spire rose from a pillar of rock high into the air, the tallest point for miles. Built from white limestone and embellished in marble, the spire resembled a gleaming sword that pierced the sky.   The gatehouse faced a cliff, its drawbridge the only apparent point of entry. Tall, wide windows encompassed the bottom level of the tower, absent only upon the gatehouse side.   Beneath Feathergale Spire to the east, a wide gusty canyon yawns through the hills.   A gap of twenty feet separated the ledge where the path ended from the closed drawbridge on Feathergale Spire. The space between the cliff's edge and the gatehouse dropped several hundred feet to the bottom of the canyon.   Near the ledge, a brass bell hung from a wooden post.     After the bell was rung, a female human dressed in the same blue scale armor as the vulture rider who attacked them opened a door. She stepped out, followed by two male humans wearing only leather armor adorned with feathers and armed with daggers.   The woman introduced herself as Savra Belabranta, a Feathergale Knight, and served as the spire's second in command. She asked the group what brought them far into the Sumber Hills. The group couldn't believe their luck. They had found Savra, the same woman mentioned in the letter, without even trying to look for her.    But they needed to get inside the spire without arousing too much suspicion.    The group decided to play the role of traveling entertainers, a circus troupe looking for work.   After showing some juggling tricks they could do, Savra said they could enter and meet the Lord Commander. She added that the Feathergale Society was celebrating its 10th year as a society. She considered the entertainers' arrival as fortunate happenstance.   The group looked to one another, not believing their luck at finding a way into the spire without having to fight their way in.
