Rbz28: The Heist

General Summary

Benesh puzzled over the long shepherd's hook as he approached the waiting freight mammoth. He had seen smaller tools used to herd animals, but he wasn't sure what to do with such an enormous creature two stories high. He supposed if they were well trained enough, the size of the implement shouldn't matter. So he raised the hook confidently as he stepped up in front of the beast, and to his surprised, the creature reached down with its trunk and ensnared the top half of the hook and hefted him upward. He hardly had time to yelp before he found himself seated in the saddle.   From there, it was a simple matter to direct the freight mammoth to the row where Saskia was waiting, and then to the palette containing the Z-fitted workshop. The mammoth happily grabbed the pack up with the gene forged digits at the end of its trunk and pull it onto its flat tusks, and lower it onto the waiting rhinotortoise.   So far so good. Everything was going according to plan!
Meanwhile, Quinn and Reinhard found their way to a secure storehouse on the side of the construction area. A monolithic piece of partially constructed spaceship towers over them as they approach the pair of guards at the front door. Quinn was dressed in the drab robes of a plain gardener, and Reinhard complemented the disguise with a set of dirty overalls and a big pot of fern lifted.   "We're here to tend to the plants," Quinn said matter of factly as one fo the guards approached him.   The guard squinted back in the harsh sunlight. "I'm going to have to see some paperwork."   "No paperwork. Just replacing some plants," Quinn said as Reinhard tried to lift the potted plant for emphasis, but his grip slips on the dirty pot and the entire pot crashed onto his foot.   "YEEEOUCH!" he yelped, drawing the attention of a nearby Medibot.   The small trashcan shaped bot dutifully scooted over and started to scan his leg as he hopped about on one foot. "Injury detected. Dangerous implements detected. Remove implements to avoid further injury," the bot circled about him to his other side, repeating for emphasis, "Remove dangerous implements to avoid further injury."   By now, the commotion had drawn the attention of the second guard, who started approaching the pair. Reinhard, annoyed by the bot and wanting to silence the thing, kicked at the babbling trashcan. But he managed to crack his toe audibly as he sent the bot toppling on its side.   Both guards were alarmed now, and one them hit an alert behind the counter while the other drew his weapon -- an elongated sluglike creature that spat some sort of dart. "Alright, stop that. Hold right there."   For a moment, Quinn considered bringing his shovel into the conversation, but opted for tact instead. "Let's not do anything our bosses will have to sort out. My friend here has been injured on your property. We should get that looked at."   The guard paused and thought for a moment. "Fine. But you'll have to accompany us to the security station and maybe we'll get that foot looked at before you break anything else."   The two acquiesced and waited for a motorized security cart to come and take them away. One of the guards accompanied them as the driver, taking them a few minutes away to a squat A&E building. It was surprisingly well equipped, looking more like a triage center than a first aid station. More than that, a huge transport bee sat atop the building, its side marked with a red medical stave insignia, gloomy fauceted eyes looking over the new arrivals
