Rbz15: The Meet

General Summary

With the Legion soldiers driven off, the crew head back toward the city, to the coordinates of their rendezvous. They set off at first light, wanting to return before the soldiers are able report their failure. The early start meant Saskia and Quinn both doze off in their saddles while Reinhard fidgets in his, having developed some rashes due to bug bites in his tent.
When they return to the city, they find that the rendezvous coordinates lead to them a medical center. Beds filled their front courtyard, shielded under a large pavillion. It seems like some sort of VR induced illness or addiction is sweeping through the population. Unsure of what to do, the crew is caught loitering by a irrate looking doctor who confronts them about their business. Saskia asks about completing a delivery but the doctor seems to know nothing about this. Benesh tries a different tact, claiming that they are delivering something from a patient's family, but the doctor doesn't buy this either and shoos them away.   Nonplussed, the crew split up to look around the hospital bloc. Saskia discovers that the coordinates actually indicate a back alley, and there is a conspicuous looking ladder that leads up to an unmarked entryway. She summons the others. Quinn and Benesh arrive -- the latter with a fancy bioengineered smoothie -- but Reinhard is conspicuous missing.   After a brief discussion, Saskia and Benesh decide to go in, with Quinn surveiling from across the street (now with Benesh's drijnk). They realize they don't have legion dress, but between Saskia's menacing armor and Benesh's posh demeanor, they could pose as important operatives.   A knock on the door allows the two entry into what seems to be an automated facility. Once inside, the door closes behind them and the two are scanned. Presumably, their weapons are found but would likely not rouse suspicion. A moment later, a door opens into a waiting area. Still, there seem to be no one here, and there seemed no way back out, so the two settle in for a wait. Benesh sits down on a comfy looking chair and browses through a stack of magazines but is disgusted to find that they are sexualized fare for peasants. He tosses them aside and browses his hand terminal only to find their signal blocked. There's no signaling for the others now.
Saskia told Quinn to give them 15 minutes and to come find them if he doesn't hear back. And now, the 15 minutes were up. So he calls up Reinhard who begrudgingly picks up the phone. He seems very distracted but Quinn manages to talk him into checking out the unit.   They arrive without issue and start knocking on the door. The two hear them. Saskia yells that they were still in a waiting pattern and that they were okay. On hearing that, Reinhard agrees and hurries off. How weird.
Quinn returns to his surveillance across the street but it is not long before he gets bored. He decides to track down Reinhard to see what he is up to. He tracks the latter's phone to a secluded corner of the hospital where he watches Reinhard enter one of the unattended VR pods. As Quinn approaches, he could see Reinhard squirming in the pod, his groans audible over the din of the hospital courtyard. He was clearly trying out one of the "mature entertainment packages" of the VR suite. Awkward!
Not long after Quinn leaves, a security vehicle pulls into the back alley, disgorging a trio of Legion soldiers. With the optical camo disabled, their black armor gleam menacingly. The three soldiers file up to the unit and scan their keyboard at the door, which grants them entry.   "Who are you? What are you doing here?" the three demand, hands on the grips of their weapons, as they find Benesh and Saskia inside.   "We're here to make a delivery," Saskia replies coolly, "Are you here to receive it?"   The three hesitate, looking at each other in confusion and then in growing suspicion. "I wasn't informed about any deliveries."   "Ah," Benesh stands up and stares down the three soldiers, "above your paygrade then."   "Wait. Who are you? We don't recognize you."   "We're Unit E-100." Saskia rattles off some official sounding jargon.   But the lead soldier is unconvinced, "I've never heard of that."   "Also above your paygrade then. Sufficit to say that we're from off-planet. We have important materials to transfer, and we need your help, soldier." Benesh musters up his sternest voice.   And the soldier seem to buy it. Their shoulders relax and the lead soldier nods. "Well, you should be heading to the HQ then. It's just that... the alarm triggers when it couldn't scan your code cylinders..."   Thinking quickly, Saskia adds, "Ah yes, ours were damaged. We will need a replacement."   The soldiers were all too happy to help and activate a pair of new code cylinders for them before making their exit, not even waiting for the two to leave to close up shop. Some security!
Excited by their newly acquired code cylinders, Saskia and Benesh quickly call for the others to join them at the Legion HQ. They move quickly by dunkey, with the two leading the way. Quinn was curious where they were going, and why, but more than that, his attention and ire was directed at Reinhard, "What you are doing is sinful. It is unnatural!"
