Rbz11: Picking Up the Pieces

General Summary

In the thunderous wake of the Parasect's dramatic exit, the crew gather themselves on a hill of debris overlooking the smoldering remains of their fire engine. The rivers of molten melt had died to an orange smolder. The solidifed surface took on a translucent color, with a dull red molten glow still shining through from somewhere underneath.   @Jihun helped patch Reinhard up. Fortunately for the warrior, despite being one-armed, Jihun had been up to date on his corporate first aid training, expertly patching him up -- at least the best that could be expected with meager supplies.   Quinn on the other hand, relied on more traditional remedies. He retrieved a corked bottle of sacred spirits from his pack, and after struggling with the top for some time -- "Bottles can be very dangerous", Reinhard advised solemnly -- drank half the contents before pouring the rest over his wounds. Thus fortified, he rumaged through the scant remains of his supplies help patch up Saskia and Benesh.   As they got tended to, the crew discussed their options. They were without a vehicle, but that was a problem for tomorrow. And while Benesh was hesitant about pressing on, Reinhard and Quinn were determined to finish their quest. Perhaps being freshly molted, the Parasect may be uniquely vulnerable. Speed now was of the essence.   They adjourn with renewed determination. In the last remnants of the reddish glow, they set forth to prepare for a final confrontation. Benesh went to examine the molted carapace. He scavenges several pieces and confirms their earlier theory -- the shell resembled that of a crusacean, and required some time to dry and harden. However, the shell here was also incomplete. The gigantic pincers were unmolted, and likely still quite deadly.
"So where does Quinn go?"
"Wherever Echo is not going."
"Well, that sounds alienating..."
Meanwhile, the rest of the party split up to scout out the area. Reinhard and Quinn set out through the breached wall into the Precursor foundry -- if that was what it was -- in search of usable supplies. Reinhard stumbled across some kind of manufacturing apparatus for some sort of razor or cutting blade. After some trial and error, he manage to get the machine to stamp out a crude blade, mounted on the shaft of the holy shovel. The immense height of the aliens made for a weapon that was unwildily large for the average human. Fortunately for Reinhard, he was not an average human.
Quinn on the other hand went search for materials that could help replenish the crew's supplies. After wandering around for what seemed like hours, he managed to scavenge a sort of aged tape that might serve as makeshift bandages. But it suddenly dawns on him that he had lost his orientation. The ever present ambient glow made it easy to lose track of one's direction. In a panicked scramble to find the entrance, he trips and drops his relic eggshell. He dives forward, catching it just before it hit the ground. Or perhaps just as it struck the glowing tile floor. Perhaps the relic was now cracked. It was a harrowing thought.   Outside the glowing foundry, Sakia and Echo crept through the dark caverns to follow in the wake of the Parasect. Its size and weight had left quite the trail that not even its softened shell could mask. They followed it down the length of the coral floored chamber until it narrowed into a dark cave-like entrance. They moved carefully forward from there, mounting Echo's cybernetic eye on the glowcat to take advantage of its natural stealthiness. After some time, they found the creature had hidden away inside some kind of control room. Its 2-story tall bulk was crammed in underneath the high frame of a Precursor console. It huddled underneath, hardened claws shielding its molted body.   This would be their chance. One last confrontation once their forces were gathered.
