Treaty of Angeleor
After the second battle of Angeleor, where the alliance between Eleonis, Lupear and Aguilear won the War of the Lions, the leaders of the three victorious kingdoms convened. They discussed the aftermath of the war and how to deal with the unique constellation in which the opposing side was, with very few exceptions, dragged into the war unwillingly.
The terms that were agreed upon by the leaders of the winning side after long discussions were compiled in a peace treaty. This treaty was signed by King Ionathar Angeleos of Eleonis, King Thameos Aorelis of Lupear and Crown Princess Ilea Meados of Aguilear, whose father had fallen during the battle. It has not yet been signed by the losing side, but an invitation to Queen Thearida Soanis of Urtheon is currently on its way to her keep.
For the victorious kingdoms, the political situation was hardly changed at all. The treaty only consolidated the terms of the alliance that Ionathar Angeleos had previously negotiated with Thameos Aorelis and Maorcas Mearis. Some nuances were renegotiated, but the general agreements were not changed.
The consequences for the opponent's offensive action were mainly directed towards Urtheon and the eleonians who had fought for the losing side. Among a few other things, Urtheon will have to give up any land claimed by its armies outside its previous territory, including Baitha, Valeor and the North.
One of the most discussed topics in the negotiations between the winners was the question how to handle the people of these areas. Thameos Aorelis and some Lords and military leaders insisted on some form of punishment. Still, in the end it was decided not to force repercussions on people who had been conquered and forced to fight in the war against their will.
In the eleonian army, desertion is punishable by death. Therefore, the former eleonian soldiers who had deserted in the early days of the war to fight for Iohan Angeleos faced particularly severe consequences.
Thearida Soanis will get to choose whether or not she signs the treaty, however, not signing it would mean the end of her reign in Urtheon.
Her throne would then pass to her son, Milnor Soanis, who had supported Eleonis and its allies in the war and deserves more than a little credit for their victory.
More than once, Milnor had supplied critical information on plans, movements and numbers of the enemy. He also fought with Eleonis in both battles of Angeleor.
