Anaptun Abra

Originally formed by outcasts from the Republic of Gloridia, the country of Anaptun Abra is now a thriving collection of loosely affiliated towns and cities. The largest portion of the population are the fun-loving karboten (“kar/BOH/tin” — tinker gnomes).

Though there are of course exceptions, the karboten generally focus on creations of a magical nature and the zharrgrund (“JAR/grund” — dwarves) on mechanical invention. A good example of Anaptun Abran ingenuity is the town of Flinterdun (‘Gossamer’). This area produces the world’s finest silk — beginning with the magical taming of the usually deadly giant spiders which inhabit the southwestern borderlands between Anaptun Abra, Glenneton and Vigooria, the zharrgrund added their mechanical know-how by creating machines which can untangle, clean and weave it into silk.

Speaking of these two ‘nations’, Anaptun Abra’s greatest threats come from the ördögs (gnolls) of Glenneton to the NW and the nagans (snakefolk), kanonok (trolls) & gaalken (goblins) of Vigooria to the SW. Lacking a sufficiently disciplined military force to man watchtowers as the Gloridians do at their borders, the Anaptun Abrans have to sometimes contend with incursions on their home front. When these enemies become too bold, the whole of the country is eager to rally to assist the war effort and invaders are quickly beaten back largely through guerilla warfare tactics. These usually cheery and carefree citizens are not to be trifled with when their homes become threatened. Sadly, now is such a time.

Envoys have gone out to their potentially sympathetic neighbors with only the Republic of Gloridia to the east promising assistance. The isolationistic forest folk of V’lumen on the other side of Glenneton have proven almost impossible to treat with, and the mostly nomadic people of Ngahere Koura (the ‘Golden Prairie’), SW on the other side of Vigooria, lack centralized governing and military to seemingly make much difference. Nonetheless, some of the latter have taken up arms to help the friendly denizens of Anaptun Abra, eager for future trade relations.

Still, the eastern half of Anaptun Abra proceeds apace, its mages and inventors constantly trying to push the boundaries of what’s possible. In fact, over the past couple of decades, great innovations have been made in the field of dirigibles. Unfortunately, their as of yet fragile construction means that a meagre aerial attack would be enough to force one down, or worse, plummet to a rapid demise for all aboard. Otherwise, they might contribute to a major scouting and combat force against the karboten’s attackers
