zharrgrund -- dwarves
Zharrgrund (“JAR/grund” — dwarf/dwarves/dwarven) babies are born with one of five sets of genes which outwardly determine their hair color — this has nothing to do with which type their parents are. This visible difference is just the beginning, however, as they vary a bit in natural ability and personality. All dwarves are stubborn and have the potential to be heroic, especially if it will make them look good amongst their peers.
- zharr ("JAR" — red-brown-haired) are the run-of-the-mill and most populous genotype;
- tuzkar (“TUZ/kar” — fiery-haired) tend to be the most flamboyant and aggressive;
- barna (“BAR/nah” — brown-haired) are the most reserved and observant;
- fekete (“feh/KEET” — black-haired and
- ezust (“eh/ZUST” — silvery-haired) are almost always foul-tempered.
There are also plenty of zharrgrund who live in Anaptun Abra with the bulk of the karboten (tinker gnomes), but these dwarves tend to be less stubborn and more fun-loving (often Neutral Good). Dwarves stand around 4.5’ tall and have proportionally shorter legs. Both men and women style their beards, but women tend to keep their facial hair looking more presentable.
