World War III

“In every Great War something is lost...in the political sphere. The first Great War led to the end of monarchy and the rise of pure democracies. The second Great War led to the end of fascism and the rise of communism. And the third Great War showed the end of democracy and the rise of dictatorships; enslaved by the very machines we helped create.”
-King Alexander Val Publis on the effects of the Third World War and why Greece stayed neutral - October 15th, 2048.

    Background
    Military action

On January 3rd Qasem Soleimani was assassinated in a U.S. prompted Drone Strike. Iran raised its red flag of vengeance on the 7th in retaliation and promptly declared war on the U.S.A. On the 11th. On the 13th the U.S. Poland, Lithuania, Ukraine, and other Central European nations (besides Germany, Romania, Finland, Slovakia, and Czech.) received a declaration of war from Russia. Russia has had many reasons to engage in conflict with the U.S. in the past so the sudden burst of malice toward the United States provided a more than opportune moment to lash out. Of the many grounds to base conflict on, the most immediate cause was because Soleimani was close to many higher ups in Russia that were also eager to engage with the U.S. However, President Putin wished to make sure Russia would benefit, so he shot down these ideas. On the 8th, Iran feared that they would have to face the United States alone so President Hassan Rouhani reached out to Putin.   A secret deal was struck. All of Eastern Europe, besides Finland, would belong to Russia and the all of the middle east to would belong to Iran given that they are victorious in war.

    Year 1: The Russian/Middle-Eastern Alliance
    Diplomatic action

The day that killed the modern world. On the 14th Syria and Iraq officially joined with their historic ally, Iran. Within two hours of the declaration at 4:30 P.M., Israel and Jordan would submit themselves to side with the American forces. For, many of the aggressors have tried to wipe Israel off the map, and Lebanon joined because Syria wants their refugees back and an offensive war (when the US needs to start the engine of war) would be a great time for it (also many people from the nation reside in the American Republic. Following this day the Russian Federation declared war on the Baltic States, Belarus, and the Ukraine.

    The Middle-Eastern Front
    Military action

The Islamic Block wanted a quick offensive to topple both nations before the US could intervene. So, they sent everything at them, tanks, planes, enough artillery to blacken both borders’ skies. The only issue being was that they were facing the entire Israeli Army. Arguably, the best army in the world as they have fought off every invader for millennia. Naturally, the Islamic Block was only able to push about 10 miles into Israel and 6 miles into Lebanon, making sure their primary ally would not fall.

    The Eastern European Front
    Military action

The Russian Army swooped in faster than anyone was prepared for. Within one day Estonia had been conquered, most of western Latvia had been lost, and ¾ of Crimea had been taken by Russia. Both mainland Ukraine and Belarus were getting pushed in as well, however this was not the main focus so it was the slowest push of the beginning of the war. At the end of the first week all of western Latvia had been lost and Russia was using it to push into Belarus from the north and east. Russia had also fully taken Crimea and had started sending marines to the south of mainland Ukraine; from the island. At this point Russian artillery and tanks had begun a push into Lithuania.   As such, the Polish populace demanded an intervention in the war to help their Lithuanian brothers (they were once one nation and have always been very close). So, after three days the Commonwealth of Poland declared war on Russia. Since the majority of the Russian forces were pushing into Ukraine and finishing off Latvia, they weren’t ready for so many reinforcements to start pushing in Lithuania; meaning the Russians were starting to lose the front.
