The Grand Republic

The Grand Republic is located in the Midlands. The Grand Republic is made up of 10 High Cities, as well as the Aremar Plains, and many smaller cities, villages, and hamlets. The High cities were once capitals of the Eastern Kingdoms, but during the Sundering the kingdoms joined together and formed the Grand Republic. The Grand Council rules the Grand Republic from the Citadel, located in the High City Loden, at the center of the Grand Republic. The Grand Council is made up of a representative from each of the High Cities, the Aremar Largehorn Commander of Sentinel Keep, the Grandmaster of the Orders of the Flame, the Council of Keepers, and the Merchant Council. During instances a vote is necessary the Council of Keepers and the Merchant Council can only cast one vote each.   The three orders of the Grand Republic include the Orders of the Flame, the Orders of the Sphere, and the Orders of the Coin. Each of the orders resides in one of the three Dragon Towers located at the Citadel. The Citadel is an immense fortress and the only location where three dragon towers can be found together. Just as a Dragon Tower normally doubles a mage’s power the Citadel increases a mage’s power fivefold.   The Orders of the Flame is a knighthood, sworn to protect the Grand Republic. The Orders of the Flame reside in the Tower of Discipline, where they train and strategize for upcoming battles. Untested applicants are given the title squire, but hold no rank among the order. Members of the fifth order consists of Knights, the fourth order consists of Knight Elites, the third order are given command as Under Marshals, the Second order are the Marshals having passed all five trials of the flame. The first order of the flame consists of only the most elite and proven members of the order. It is of these individuals the Grand Master, the Grand Commander, and the Knight Commanders are chosen.   The Orders of the Sphere is an order of mages, sworn to the welfare of the Grand Republic. The Orders of the Sphere reside in the Tower of Wisdom, where they practice and strengthen abilities of the sphere. Members of the fifth order consist of Apprentices and Slingers, as no slinger can achieve any level higher. The fourth order are the Mages, while the third order are High Mages, and the second order Master Mages. The first order are the Keepers, of which nine are selected to form the Council of Keepers, which leads the Orders of the Sphere.   The Orders of the Coin is a Merchant Guild. The Orders of the Coin reside in the Tower of Avarice, where they ensure trade in the Republic remains profitable. The fifth order are the Merchant Apprentices, while the fourth are the Merchants themselves. The third order are the Aldermen, and the second the Speakers. Finally the first order are thirteen speakers chosen to form the Merchant Council. Unlike the other Orders, the Orders of the Coin seem to promote in rank not through merit but through purchasing their way in.
