The Pit of Gollab

He woke up in a panic, not knowing where he was or how he got there. All of his clothes and gear were gone, and he realized he wasn’t alone. When the others awoke, they were as scared as he was. The room was like a cave, or at least carved from stone. There were no lights in the room, only an amber glow that illuminated through narrow gaps in the floor. More and more people were starting to wake, and the panicked tension intensified with every scream of realization.
The ceiling suddenly shuttered as something emerged from a cavern above. It was a great, black creature with many legs and a long, pendulous tail ended by a hook. The man pushed past the other nude captives to hide against the wall while the beast surveyed the crowd. Soon, it found its victim, and the hooked tail swung down, pierced another man through the abdomen, and lifted him in the air. The creature crawled back to the cavern from where it came, the screaming victim in tow, until neither could be heard.
Havoc quickly ensued as the throng of people clawed at the walls and floors for an escape. The man cried to himself, “What cruel hell is this?”
