The Battle of Kasspet
The Conflict
Prelude
Kasspet had long been under Vahrai control, its people bearing the weight of centuries of oppression. The port city was the first invaded and occupied by the Vahrai Empire. The people of Kasspet yearned for freedom and unity to break the shackles of the Vahrai Empire's tyranny. When the Hanghat virus, or serpentbane fever, began to spread through the Vahrai ranks, the people of Kasspet raised their arms to drive out the serpent folk.
Deployment
Abet Sala, a charismatic and skilled Gievrian fighter, led the charge in the Battle of Kasspet. Sala's servitude under a Vahrai general allowed her to learn their military tactics and combine Gievrian martial arts with Vahrai dark magic to forge a unique fighting style. She taught her comrades in secret, and by employing ingenious guerrilla tactics, the amalgamation of styles gave them an advantage against the Vahrai's powerful magic.
The Vahrai garrison was heavily depleted by the effects of the Hanghat virus, leaving only one-third of the Vahrai population of Kasspet battle-ready before the uprising.
Battlefield
Kasspet was situated along the coast, with its bustling port as a crucial hub for trade and transportation. The battle spilled into the city's streets and Kasspet's central marketplace. The marketplace was a focal point of the conflict.
The harbor of Kasspet witnessed fierce naval engagements as Gievrian fighters boarded Vahrai vessels. The sound of clashing swords and the echo of magic reverberated across the water.
Conditions
The day of the skirmish was shrouded in dense fog. The battle began in the early morning and continued into midday.
Historical Significance
Legacy
The battle of Kasspet was the first of many Gievrian uprisings against the Vahrai Empire. The hanghat virus weathered on for several more years, leading to many decisive defeats of the empire's forces. Within a decade of the Battle of Kasspet, the occupation of Gievrys was no longer worth the losses, and the serpent folk returned to Akaris in full.
