In recognition of
Ozarkan beliefs that nature should be embodied into one's life and family, the elves of
Soala'Sar out of and around the bronzeleaf trees of the Soala Forest. By incorporating the tree's limbs and truck into the construction of their homes, the Soala'Elle live in an enviroment solely unique even among the scattered Elven societies.
To honor the teachings of the God of Nature, Ozark, the builders of Soala'Sar construct their homes within the treetops of the Soala Forest, specifically around the giant bronzeleaf trees. These tree houses are single-family homes with few segmented rooms; each home contains at least three primary areas: resting quarters, a sitting room, and a kitchen.
The Tree
Soalan tree houses are almost always built around and from bronzeleaf trees. The trees are preferred for multiple reasons: the circumference of their trunks, their heavy, wide branches, and their nature of growing to a predictable maximum size. Standard construction utilizes the trunk as the building's core and inner wall, while the floors rest upon the tree's lowest branches. Often, homes will be uneven, circular buildings as one side rests on higher branches than the other. Due to their elevated status among the trees, Soalan homes regularly have staircases that spiral along the outside of the tree that empty into the home from below.
Construction Material
Soalan tree houses are built from abundant bronzeleaf wood. As a hardwood, lumber planks from brozeleaf trees are pale yellow-white and are incredibly durable. When treated with fire, the wood of a bronzeleaf will become slick and metallic in color; such treatment is often used in the roofing of tree houses to create a smooth, sloped surface for rainwater to run down and create a reflective surface for heat to bounce off of.
