Outpost Opportunity

Taila stood silently in the watchtower. Members of each god's faction had been spotted on the horizon sporadically over the past month, and it was her job to notify the Black Opal Tower immediately if any were to approach the portal. Everyone at the tower could feel the storm gathering, but when the inevitable battle might take place was uncertain.

If worst came to worst, tower leadership agreed that the portal would be closed to prevent anything else from slipping through. Taila prayed that she wouldn't be stuck on the wrong side if that time came.

She locked eyes on a hornback sifting through the grey sands. It breached and stared toward the portal briefly before disappearing behind a dune.
