Kobolds

Being the “Blood of (true) dragons” is the central concept towards which all their creation myths converge to. This, in turn, is supported by their extremely long lived cousins themselves. The rational observer can also reach such conclusions with ease, as kobolds typically share recognizable traits with true dragons.

Clerics of draconic gods tell that kobolds came into being from the droplets and pools of blood of the first dragons that chose to experiment with and generate new life, akin to the gods, by offering their life essence along with their immortality. This is remembered and cherished greatly in kobold culture. And cues to why they are known to revere true dragons themselves.

It’s known that in other universes kobolds are regarded as weaklings, barely civilized, that only have some power when banded together or serving an old enough true dragon. Not in the Lanturia continent or anywhere else in Lantartia even. Being one of the most industrious, organized and prolific races there is, they form and push the bulk of the economy of the great empire named as the Iounion Confederation (Iossivisz Gix’fiyrix). There, kobold clans, as a whole, have the status of a True Dragon, only made from separate bodies. Even outside of this empire, clans quickly earn fame and riches by their tireless, effective work.

Despite being defined by their deeply rooted group identity, individual kobolds are not to be trifled with. According to their take on draconic philosophies and religions, while they are of a diminutive stature, instead of having a fraction of a true dragon’s might, it exists in a concentrated form in them. Namely it is expressed in their small fragile bodies as speed. Granting a kobold lightning fast reflexes. No other creature of their size or larger can come close to their reaction times. The kobold centered monk order of the old god Io (Iogixtal) train to exploit exactly that, which fuels the myths that even a single kobold can awaken and wield the might of a true dragon him or herself.
