Fire Lions (Nanalcans)

A flailing tail, engulfed in fire on its tip matches with the lively scarlet fur of the nanalcans. The body of a fire lion is indeed leonine, complete with a shadowy deep black mane, feet pads and claws. The intense yellow and orange irises enveloping the coal like pupils finish the tale of how this people is aptly named. Their connection to fire in all forms and meanings is paramount, which include innate spells from this element.
They often refer to themselves in their crepitating, crackly language as the “Shepherds of the Savannas”, specially when sharing stories of their oral, nomad culture among themselves. These encompass popular tales about the natural balance and cycles of growth of nature and include others about how their fiery souls is made flesh. Or why the responsibility to protect the wild places belongs to them. Along their keen sense of purpose, they kindle beliefs about how their guardianship of the land, purging the wicked and burning decay fits into regrowth for life and peace. Their friendly warm ways are quick to light up hope and comfort. As well as to ignite the embers of inspiration.
