No-Ombrulsk is the northernmost city on the western coast of the Land of the Eight Cities. Wood is rare in No-Ombrulsk as the Great Forest does not reach that far north and all local forest and wood was stripped away long ago. The city is made of stone. Mining and Fishing export are its only life line to the rest of Nehwon and it’s port is frozen 3 months a year. This may seem like an surmountable obstacle in the export business, but this causes for a surplus of mining to take place during these down months, which in turn cause prices to increase, making for better profits in the spring. due to the warm currents from the south. It’s black ramparts can be seen by sea. The strange material that makes up the walls to this city have always been there. It seems to be metal but does not rust. It is almost indestructible in every way. Many a Metallurgist have spent years studying this substance and where it comes from. It could be priceless. No-Ombrulsk known as 'the city fjord', and the city is surrounded by mountains; No-Ombrulsk is known as the 'city of seven mountains'.

Government

The city of has been governed by a city government based on the principle of parliamentarian. The government consists of seven government members called commissioners, and is appointed by the city council, the supreme authority of No-Ombrulsk. After the local elections No-Ombrulsk has been ruled by a right-wing coalition of the Guild Party, the Aarth Party, and the Noble Party, each with two commissioners. The Guild Party member Trude, is mayor but is currently in the city prison. While Noble Sir Ragnhild of the Noble party is the leader of the city government, the most powerful political position in the city. Recently the Labour party, a splinter group of the Guild party, is the new No-Ombrulsk mayor, and Harald the Smith (Labour Party) the new city governing mayor. The Labor Party has formed a new center-left city government. The restructuring has caused many problems within the city. Fights have broken out between the parties. This government break down is bad for business. The number one export of fish has slowed down to a crawl.

Industry & Trade

Fishing and Mining are the primary producers of wealth, due to the lack of wood most of the wood has to be imported from Ool Hrusp. Boats are made in Lankhmar or Kvarch Nar. Mining operations run year round. loads of ore and precious metals are shipped out at first thaw. This is known as the season of the pirate due to the large numbers of theft that occurs during the Spring thaw. Wood is the biggest import, it is said that a Brulsker would sooner trade his wife than lumber.

History

Fires plagued the cities history. Early development the city was made of wood, the fact that there were few trees in the area, didn't stop pioneers from wiping the small forest clean. The city burned four times in its history. It is now almost completely made of stone and the strange walls that surround the city never showed more than soot marks from the city fires.

No-Ombrulsk translated is the meadow among the mountains, occupies most of the peninsula of Gensha in the district of Midfjordland in mid-western part of the the mountain range know as The bones of the old ones. The city covers an area of 5 square miles. Most of the urban area is on or close to a fjord or bay, although the urban area has several mountains. The city center is surrounded by the Seven Mountains, although there is disagreement as to which of the nine mountains constitute these.

The previous Overlord of No-Ombrulsk, named Lord Logben, had a Great Ivory throne built. This was of course before they changed to a parliament based government. The throne still is used for the center of government. The draw to this magnificent white marvel has corrupted many a valiant soul.
