Physical Description

Body Features

Standing at a respectable 5'6", Ash's body is lithe with muscle acquired from combat training and construction projects. She's athletic but still maintains some supple curves.

Facial Features

Small, heart shaped with large almond eyes and and cupid's bow lips. She has high cheekbones and an aristocratic nose.

Identifying Characteristics

Small pointed ears, slate grey eyes, long auburn hair she keeps in a side-braid most of the time. She has one tattoo in black of a slim, serpentine dragon on her upper left arm, though it is mostly hidden by her gauntlet, and various scars all over her body obtained from fights and construction accidents.

Apparel & Accessories

Ash's curvy but lightly muscled frame is clothed most often in skin tight leather breeches and a soft brown linen slip over which is a lighter brown leather vest. Knee high black boots, a leather gauntlet, and numerous pieces of jewelry complete her everyday look. When traveling, she often wears a forest green cloak she brought with her from the Ukatae Realm, with its hood up.   More specifically, Ash wears four long gold earrings on her left ear to signify loved ones lost as is the way in Ukatae culture. The four small hoops above those stand for the family she has left and has swore to protect.

Specialized Equipment

Ash has an Amulet, carved with the Isperium crest, that she keeps on her person at all times. It has multiple enchantments woven into it by her father, a master Ukatae Sorcerer. The chain is carved with tiny runes for protection and location, so she can always be found if it is on her person.

Ash received most of her education from mentors in the criminal underworld of the Ukatae Realm. She didn't start any kind of formal learning until she came to Uthrandir, where she apprenticed herself under a Master Sorcerer to learn various magical skills.

Employment

Ash currently owns and runs a brothel called The Black Velvet, located in the Undercity Cove of Gandora. There she mainly works in a supervisory capacity, occasionally performing exotic dances on stage, but her own wares are not completely off the market for the right price.

Morality & Philosophy

Ash has a very complex moral code that even she, herself fails to understand at times. Morally she has no issue with things like murder, theft, prostitution, or torture. However, she does have a sense of right and wrong, of justice. She has an idea of how the world should be, and holds onto that while trying to make it somewhat better for those she cares about.   Her philosophy follows something like 'Amor Fati', which means 'love of fate' or more specifically 'love of one's fate'. It is characterized by an acceptance of events or situations that occur in one's life.

  • Absence of purpose. She fears having nothing to do and nowhere to go. Living for nothing more than existence terrifies her.
  • Becoming like her mother. The way Ash was raised left a lot to be desired, and she is afraid of becoming like her mother. She views the woman as a failure in life because of her class, occupation, and reliance on Ash’s father. This fear is especially present in her mind due to her current occupation.
  • The deaths of what family she has left. Abandonment is her biggest fear, as everyone she’s ever cared for has died or left her for one reason or another, so she has severe abandonment issues, and can become possessive and even aggressive with people she comes to care for.
  Flaws
  • Ash has issues with impulse control. Her emotions run very strong, and when she desires something, she sees little reason to restrain herself from taking it. This sometimes lands her in more trouble than she can deal with, and makes for easy enemies.
  • Ash is also severely touch-starved due to her upbringing, which causes her to crave the touch of others but also flinch away from it. This need can manifest in different small ways, but also in the form of small panic attacks.
  • Overprotective of those she cares for, to the point where it can prove a detriment emotionally and physically. She can get emotionally overwrought for long periods if she fails to protect someone she has labeled in her heart as hers, and would seek their continued health even if it hurts her.

Hygiene

Ash is extremely fastidious. She has made it a habit to bathe every other day when possible, and likes to use a soap made from the oil of olives, the fresh scent of which lingers subtly about her person.

History

The two siblings rarely interact, as Nico feels mostly ambivalent towards Ash. While Ash's feelings towards Nico are complex, her main goal has been to keep him alive so she can find a way to build a relationship with him.

Ashtiroth Emelia Isperium is the beguiling but world-weary sister to Nico and Cole Isperium. She has come to Gandora to be close to her brother, and hopefully keep him safe from his (usually self-inflicted) troubles.

    Unexpected Beginnings
    Life, Birth

    Ashtiroth's conception was by all accounts an accident. Her father, Anthony Isperium, was a high-ranking Ukatae Sorcerer, and her mother a popular courtesan. Still, Anthony was not without honor, and took some responsibility for her birth. His visits were infrequent, but warm and affectionate.

    Anthony went on to marry in another land, and Ash's mother was beyond heartbroken. Betrayed by the one she adored, Ash's presence was a constant reminder of the one who had left them. And so, her mother banished Ash from her home at the tender age of eight. Left with nothing and no one, the young girl found herself on the streets, and came to know well the sting of hungry days and cold nights.

What follows is a life-changing metamorphosis as their magic reaches its final stage of growth, reveals its Affinity, and anchors itself to the greater stream. Ash's own Trial went perfectly, and she emerged on the other side with a new sense of self. She had a Chaos Affinity, just like her mentor who had taken her in years ago. This pleased them both greatly, and the man adopted her as his true daughter and bent himself towards her training and growth.

    The Fall of Caesar
    Life, Death

    The shadows of the criminal Underworld moved, and unrest over new stricter policies in the Capital had everyone on edge. Ashtiroth's beloved mentor tried to keep things as stable as possible, but it was all for naught when the authorities had him assassinated, with the help of anonymous rivals. This loss, after everything, was too much for the young woman. The bodies of the men and women responsible were hung from the government building in a gruesome display of rage. It was time someone reminded the Ukatae elite that the Underworld was ruled by a different set of powers, and they were not to be trifled with. Ash assumed her mentor's throne, and put plans into motion.

    The Rise of an Empire
    Life, Achievement/ Win

    It took four years of careful planning and maneuvering, but Ash was able to complete her vengeance against anyone involved in her mentor's untimely death. It was four years of chaos and carnage as she used her intelligence and training to dismantle her mentor's former rivals brick by brick, until there was nothing but bodies and ruins. With each takeover, she gained more support. Her loyalty, drive, and care for those under her protection brought her respect, and those who joined her organization would soon hold a fierce loyalty for her in return. When the last culprit was finally caught and punished, Ash took a moment to look behind her at the wake of her rage, and saw an empire just waiting to be taken. She grabbed the reigns of each broken gang and organization, and unified them under her own authority. In her mentor's name she built the foundations of the Katagi Syndicate, and placed herself at its head.

    If knowledge is power, then Ash would always be the one with the most knowledge in a room. This included self-knowledge, and with an empire to protect, Ash realized she needed to make sure there would be no surprises that could come to haunt her. It was time to find out what happened to her father. She started with her mother, an exceedingly unpleasant experience that left her with more questions than answers. She was finally able to find the land he had fled to, and came across some startling revelations. While she had known Anthony had left to marry, the thought of children from that union had never really crossed her mind. There were two in fact. Brothers from another land and lifetime. Ash found herself struck by a terrible need to know these people, her half-siblings. But it wasn't possible at the moment. The Katagi needed her, and she could not abandon them. At least, not yet.

    After many years building the Katagi and ensuring their survival and success, Ash was finally able to step away from leadership and move towards a more advisory role. This allowed the Ukatae woman far more freedom, and she used that to pack her things and book a one way trip to Uthrandir....the land of her Father. She had no idea what she would find when she arrived, or if she would be welcome, but she had to go nonetheless. She had to know, to see for herself this other family she had been abandoned for. It would be a long road ahead, full of unknowns, but Ash was confident in her ability to meet any challenge thrown her way.

    Adjustments and the Search

    After stepping foot in Uthrandir for the first time, Ash spent an entire year trying to adjust to the major differences. The Ukatae Realm was the only home she'd ever known, and it was an abrupt wake-up call to suddenly be far away from anyone or anything she knew. She searched doggedly for her Father and her siblings, crossing the continent with hardly anything to her name. This time of relative weakness humbled her greatly, and she lost much of her former arrogance and surety. It was a time of personal growth under the yoke of a new, but still equally uncaring, world. Well, at least some things never change.

    A Tumultuous Meeting

    When Ash finally managed to track down her errant family, it was....interesting to say the least. The news of the death of her Father and his wife hardly fazed the woman, but meeting her brothers was an event she'll never forget. She finally found them both in a small, isolated town in Southern Caerundal called Elra. The oldest was a tormented drunkard, full of resentment and envy. The younger had more blood on his tiny hands than she did, and was a magical prodigy with the morals of a spoiled feline. Still...there was something in each of them that called to her instincts. They were shocked to learn of her existence, but far more accepting than she'd thought. Ash resolved to stay with them for the year, to try and forge some kind of familial bond...though her expectations were quite low.

    Hearth and Home
    Life, Achievement/ Win

    Over the next year and a half, Ash lived with her brothers and helped them to build an estate worthy of what the Isperium name would hopefully become. In Uthrandir, Anthony was a titled Lord, and this burden fell to the youngest to uphold. Lord Cole Tanner Isperium became a household name, not only in Elra, but throughout Uthrandir. Ash could not have been more proud, and one year turned to two, turned to three...and eventually the Ukatae woman gave up on the idea of leaving. This was her home now, the home she had built with the family she had never expected to gain.

    The Fool and the King
    Life, Death

    Unfortunately, this happiness was not to last. The oldest brother Nico's mental instability and resentment found focus on the King of Elra. He wished to kill the man, committing treason, murder, and various acts of cruelty to achieve his aims. Ash and Cole struggled to keep their brother in check, but it proved impossible. His obsession proved to be his end, and Nico was executed by none other than Cole after being imprisoned by the Elran King. Cole left after that, to parts unknown, and Ash withdrew from everyone to mourn alone.

    The Interim
    Life, Career

    The damaged Ukatae spent her days renovating the Isperium Estate, until she was invited to teach at the Magic School in Portovento. This provided a needed distraction from her grief and loneliness, and as a perk Ash got to take lessons in advanced Magic from her co-worker Sky. Over time the two developed something of an affair and Ash considered at one point taking him as a mate, but it was not to be. In spending all her efforts trying to live day to day and keep her remaining brother, Cole, out of troubl, she had neglected to keep herself out of trouble.

    A Child?

    Nico Isperium's will revealed a child of his blood, a possible heir to the Isperium fortune, alive and alone. With the mother's whereabouts unknown, and her status assumed dead, Nico tasked Ash with the responsibility of caring for the child. This was beyond the realm of anything she had expected, and threw her mind and heart into turmoil. After losing two loved ones through her own perceived inability to protect them, taking on a helpless child seemed the antithesis to sanity. But...the child had no one else at the moment, and he reminded Ash of her own beginnings. With Cole only occasionally dropping by to visit and Nico deceased, Ash tried to care for her nephew Seth alone in the family manor she helped create. She struggled, having no real experience with children, and felt more conflicted every day in his company. She did not want to form an attachment, only to have it ripped from her. In the end, she was right to be worried. Seth ran away to live with his extended family in Lenera, and seeing that he was happier there, Ash let him go without a fight.

    The Start of a Circle

    A large lapse in judgement saw Ash mated to and impregnated by a powerful evil entity, who themselves was already mated and married. With her and the child in her womb's life on the line, she made the difficult decision to mate her new Alpha's wife and start to form her Circle. As social creatures, Ukatae commonly take more than one Life Mate. These trios, quads, and so on are called a Circle. A Ukatae's Circle is their life, irrevocably bonded to each other until the end of time eternal. Terrible things happen to Ukatae when a Circle is toyed with or broken, and so most never mate outside of their own race. In the blink of an eye, Ash found herself mated to not one, but two evil entities. Her life, and that of her unborn child's tied to them forever.

    Because of various stresses, Ash went into labor far too early. Things did not look good. It seemed as though she would not survive, but her Alpha mate managed to perform something of a miracle, and the lives of both her and her child were spared. The Circle welcomed a premature, but healthy baby girl on a crisp summer morning, and Ash found her world changing once again.

    In the days that followed the birth of her daughter, Ash's Alpha was killed in a fight with the Orc King Gorsnik. This loss sent the Ukatae over the edge, spiraling into insanity. Left practically alone with her newborn infant after her Beta disappeared, Ash was severely broken physically, mentally, and emotionally. She left Elra, leaving no word of her whereabouts or if she would ever come back, taking her infant daughter with her.

    Lost and Found

    Sky, who had remained a good friend and trusted person to Ash in the days of her pregnancy, stumbled across her by chance alone in one of the forests surrounding Portovento nearly fifteen years later. Emaciated and catatonic, he rushed her to his home and endeavored to slowly nurse her back to health. The process was agonizing, with Ash regaining her sanity bit by bit, and with it the memories of what had happened. Her daughter was long dead; her tiny body giving out from unknown causes not days after Ash had left Elra. A small, unmarked grave beneath a weeping willow was all there was to mark her existence and her passing. Coming to terms with this truth would take Ash a very long time, though with the support of Sky to help her, it at least looked like a possibility.

    The Return

    Years later, with Ash's sanity mostly intact, she returned to Elra to see what had become of her old home and the land where she had once known happiness. She was shocked to discover her brother Nico alive once more, revived by Cole sometime during her disappearance. The two of them were equally shocked to see her, believing she was dead all this time. And so, things had some full circle. But they were not the same. Each Isperium had new tales to tell, and new scars to hide, and Ash could feel the distance between them sharper than ever. This was not the homecoming she had expected, but still...it was a new start.

    Separate Ways
    Life, Relocation

    In the coming years, each Isperium would drift from the manor. Leaving for a few months or years, only to return for a short time. Ash decided to travel back to the Ukatae Realm and see what had become of her beloved Katagi. Luckily they had fared far better than she did, and were thriving in their element. They welcomed her back with no hesitation, and for a time she enjoyed the security of being back in her homeland. Some years later, she received a letter from Cole. Apparently he had sent Nico alone to a new world, and only now realized the folly of this decision. Who knew what kind of shenanigans and trouble the errant brother might bring upon himself. Ash had never packed so fast in her life, and bought fare upon a ship headed towards a place called Ezarion.
