History

Hredd, a Goddess of Winter, manifested her faith on Erdos after the Fall of the Varn. Hredd claimed to be goddess of both winter and death, but in truth she merely coveted the Death domain, as she held no real hold over that portfolio.Her presense on Erdos however, opened up a path for her to claim the Riddle of the Raven, a mysterious primal power that could enable a god full access to the Death portfolio.
Unfortunatelly, her plans involved--among other things--covering the planet in an eternal winter, and corrupting the sanctity of death.
Hredd's church spread quickly in the nascent kingdom of Mallenor, her priests quickly worming themselves to positions of authority. In a couple of decades, it was safe to say that Mallenor was a puppet state of the cult of Hredd.
It was at that point that her priests, angels, and other servitors begun their move to claim the Riddle of the Raven in earnest.

The Circle of the Raven

The Riddle of the Raven was served and protected by a cadre of druids called the Circle of the Raven. In an effort to secure more information on the Riddle, Hredd's cultists lauched a deadly assault against the druids. The attack was led by an old red dragon called Ashardalon , who was promised immortality by Hredd.
The result was devastating: All but one of the druids were gruesomely slain and turned into the undead.

The Lone Survivor

The druid, Kaesenva Dydd, a veteran of the War of the Varn and a leading member of the Circle of the Raven, had survived the onslaught. She vowed revenge against the Dragon Ashardalon, and to expunge the faith of Hredd off the face of the planet.
To that end, she recruited a team of capable adventurers.

The Founding

First was the young man, Khaylen Thorne. The 20-year old warrior was not only a master of combat but a cunning tactician as well. More importantly to Dydd, Khaylen was something of an adopted son, as she was involved in his upbringing--Khaylen's father, Caleb Thorne, was Ovi Varn's champion during the War of the Varn.
