Flower Viewing

One of the things the people on Ymir do in their spare time, is enjoying nature. While the Ymir wilderness is not yet considered safe, due to insufficient data on long-term exposure effects, the First City was designed to have a large variety of parks and woods. This includes 5 massive flower gardens, one per town.   Due to Ymir knowing no significant seasons, many plants simply grow constantly. This has been put to use at the flower gardens, where the same kind of flower is planted every week. This guarantees that every week one can find their favourite flower blooming. In some cases, like the Gladioli sections, the blooming flowers will be of different types over time, and often are planted in a circular pattern with a length matching the lifecycle.   Each flower garden includes various sections, most of which originating from specific Earth cultures. Awakened people can go to a section reminding them of Earth if they so desire. The large variety also guarantees that people can see different kinds of flowers all the time, making it a repeated outing that doesn't bore easily.

Types of outings

There are different ways that people use the flower gardens. Some will simply walk around, taking in the sights. Others will bring picnic sets and sit down in the grass, enjoying the breeze and enjoying the smell. Since some sections have pools, ponds, and even artificial lakes, swimming trips combined with tanning are also a hit. For adults without children, there are places available that allow for alcohol consumption, some visitors will enjoy a picnic with liquor, then go out Clubbing.   Some sections allow picking blooming flowers, within reason, such as the Gladioli sections. This lets people make a trip out of enjoying the sights, then bringing a nice reminder home. People are asked to leave a small donation, which is used on top of the government-provided budget for expanding the entertainment options available.
