Clubbing

In the First City, many go to the Night District when they go out. In the weekend, tens of thousands of people go there, most of which visit the nightclubs while dressed up. The name originates from Earth, where people would go out at night. Many nightclubs still only open during the unofficial nighttime, in part to align with sleeping patterns.   While nightclubs come in many different flavours, and people attend for various reasons, in most cases people go to dance with friends. They may also at times hang at the bar or at a private table, taking breaks from the dancing. They may even have their own room. But the dancing is the core aspect, and what sets apart the nightclubs from the bars.

Nightclub Types

Since dancing to music is the core part of the clubbing experience, people tend to gravitate towards clubs playing the kind of music they love. Some prefer environments quiet enough to hold lengthy conversations, where the music is merely a background. Others like it loud, with a live DJ that will spice things up and draw people in.   People's profession and age also play a part in their nightclub preference. For example, some nightclubs are aimed specifically at young adults, while there are several that are restricted to Defenders. Some Defenders like being able to talk without worrying about security clearance, so these nightclubs never let in any civilian without clearance.

Special accommodations

Besides the normal tables and barseats, many nightclubs also include booths for groups, which offer a bit more privacy than an open table. Some even have VIP rooms, which oversee the dancefloor but do not allow for strangers to enter. These do come with either a reservation fee, or a minimum expense requirement.   There also are nightclubs that have dressing rooms for people wanting to change their outfit, or private showers to clean up during lengthy parties. Three of them even have a private sauna that can be reserved, though only the rich can afford to splurge on them.

Nice article. I love that the Defenders only allow certain people in.

Fortunately security staff all is Defenders in the entire Night District, but those places have to hire Defenders parttime for the bar and as DJ too.
