Tricksy Pixie
It should be the early morning, a time when the sun is rising and lighting the world for all to see. Unfortunately, there are webs that cover the canopy and block out the morning light. It makes the path dim and difficult to traverse. The webs stick to feet and trip up travelers—as intended. Spodrellis are not the fastest creatures; they need help slowing down their prey.
Acquisition:
There's a soft, high cry for help to the side of the road; the source of the tiny voice is a pixie. He's dressed flamboyantly, colors more vibrant than the flowers that dotted the sides of the path before entering the Spodrellis's territory. He appears to be trapped in the webs, having flown right into one. His struggles only make his situation worse, and one of his wings is bent awkwardly, straining against the sticky silk that holds him in place.
"Please get me out! I promise you a bit of my dust if you free me." He struggles again. "Goddess, I don't want to die here."
Dusted:
Pixie dust is prized for its ability to give the user visions. Usually, the hallucination is pleasant, even euphoric, but not all of them. Most have a good time when they take it, and that's enough to entice many to try it just once.
Carefully navigating the mess of webs, you manage to get to him and start gently cutting him free. He begs you to hurry and to be careful not to nick his wings with your dagger. Once he's free, the pixie flutters around happily and stretches his arms out. He's free!
He asks for a vial to put his dust in; a promise is a promise, after all. Before the vial can be given, there's a terrible screech behind the party, coming from the direction of the path. You turn, and a Spodrellis stands there, towering over the party with arms outstretched to grab at whoever is closest. The pixie lets out a squeak of panic and flies higher into the canopy to hide.
Resolution:
- The party must fight the Spodrellis while dodging the spider webs that litter the ground and shrubbery. This can be counted as difficult terrain, depending on the game.
Remember: Spodrellis are weak to lightning/electric types of damage. They also slash at their prey with sharp claws.
- Once the Spodrellis is dead, the pixie will return and honor his original promise.
Rewards:
- A vial of pixie dust with enough for everyone to have a dose. It's up to either rolls or the GM as to what kind of trip they have.
