The investigation of Vestergil by the Augury in order to determine if he was a threat to the new government. The investigation culminated in a conversation with the Ohdaufehl, which led to revelations regarding the Aufalten across the land.

After taking power, the Augury wished for little more than to control the land it already had. Due to the sheer amount of land that they had access to but had hardly explore, the government set out in an attempt to fully understand everything they had conquered. At the top of that list was coming to understand the mythical dragon, Vestergil. Many came to believe he did not exist, as contact with the Icelends was cut off during Ettermiddag, and most of his stories came from the eras prior. The inhabitants of Fjordstrond adhered to the truth of his history, but the Augury felt the need to both unveil the truth and determine if he would be a threat, as the few recorded legends depicted him as the most powerful among his kind.   At the conclusion of the long trek into the Icelends, they found what the people of Fjordstrond had sworn to. The envoys were disrespectful in their approach, ensuring the Augury's claim on his territory was known to the celestial. the Fjordstrond scribes wrote that Vestergil's approach had no better tact, sneering at their presence and ignoring most of their questions as he meandered throughout his tunnels.   In hopes of getting the nuisance to leave his abode, he eventually submitted to their onslaught of questions. The envoys were still able to get little in the way of information from him, as he "spoke in circles" and appeared "easily distracted." The important facts that they managed to gather were that Vestergil would not pose a threat to the Augury, and that he had concerns about his fallen kin that humanity had mostly come to ignore. He claimed that for reasons he did not fully understand yet, the Aufalten would soon pose a threat. Today, it is mostly believed that the predictoin was relevant to Eshiren, the Waterblight.
