Life, Death
The death of Henri Leopold II at the hands of his council.
Henri Leopold had served well in his time as the first ruler over the fully united Saltkrigere Empire. Regardless of his capability, his decisions fell under scrutiny in his older years. Hoping to leave the empire in a state of peace and cooperation after his passing, he began to allow each of the baronies certain privileges that the council found questionable. The final nail in the coffin was a draft to allow Eldurgrund to keep a small private military. Fearing the precedent that the ruling would set for Leopold's son and successor, the council saw to the death of their leader and friend. Often written as the most cruel betrayal in human history, it is no wonder the story has given rise to famous plays and poems.
