Founding
The formation of the Elvish Monadnock Symposium: an organization dedicated to the discussion of spiritual, scientific, political, and social topics. With members ranging from east to west, their annual semi-annual formal meetings were held at a lodging under a single mountain between Mailes and Ghei Wyl.
The Monadnock Symposium was an organization ahead of its time. In a world struck by the terrors of the dark ages and the mass loss of history, the symposium was a beacon of hope. The elves were the only ones who had a mind toward education at such a time, and years down the road they would eventually turn to recover the history the world had lost, rather than such contemporary issues tackled in the years around their founding. The meetings were largely verbal affairs and debates, making modern observers criticize it for being more argumentative recreation than a service to the general public. While the written word and rigorous scientific method are the gold standard today, it was simply a different time during the organization's founding. Debates were the gold standard of the time, and personal interaction would certainly drive individuals to change their minds on subjects, bringing foreign ideas home for the purposes of improving their local civilizations. Those who founded the symposium initially sought for it to be led by Professor Dumont, the Encyclopedic, though he rejected due to the lack of structure, believing it would fall through rather quickly. While the symposium would not be an eternal presence, it bested even his expectations. A council would be voted in instead, and they would send couriers to inform all members as to when the debates would be held.
